State Funeral

Today was the State Funeral of Ronald Reagan, and naturally I have a lot of
thoughts on the subject.

My first thought is, "Who designed the State Funeral?" This thought is
followed closely by, "What exactly is a State Funeral?" Nobody bothered to
fill us in on this bit of history. I sure as hell didn't learn it in school.
So what gives? Is it that it is a State like our National Identity honoring
someone, or is it that he lies in State, which has a ton of other meanings I
don't want to get into.

Does the military have a special part of it for band members? Do they do
band all day? What about the guy that claps the cymbal-is this his sole
contribution to his country? Do you think the superiors of the pallbearers
told them not to fu@# it up? Do you think any of them were saying, "Don't
drop the 40th President! Don't drop, please." The Marine is thinking to
himself, "This will not drop, not on my watch! God Country Corps Unit HUAY!"
Was the Coast Guard among them? Nope, once again the MEDIA has cleverly and
suspiciously left them out of our week-long history lesson.

I feel like I am watching the new Star Wars Trilogy-there's too many holes.
Tell us who designed the cathedral, or when it was designed. I want to know
why they have howitzers instead of rifles. How much would Reagan's flag sell
on Ebay for?

I wonder what the ex-presidents were thinking. Bush Sr. was probably
thinking, "A damn Iraqi is here! This place is going to hell." Carter was
thinking, "Boy, if I didn't fu@# up my job so bad, I wonder who would have
been here?" Ford was thinking, "I wonder if I qualify for a State Funeral?"
Clinton was thinking, "Man, my State Funeral is going to be so much cooler
than this." GW was thinking.

Like the man, hate the man-Reagan was still our president. We are very
fortunate to have this country, and even though some of you may disagree, we
have done a lot of great things in the last 60 years, a lot to be proud of.
Times are dark right now, but we should still root for the home team.
